80's
In the 80s, shows such as DuckTales, The Gummi Bears, Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers, and more.
DuckTales: First premiered in 1987. DuckTales was a daily 30 minute show, that engaged in mystery, comedy, and adventure. This show taught kids that family and friends are more important than wealth. The Adventures of the Gummi Bears: First premiered in 1985. The Gummi Bears was also a daily show, that consisted of two consecutive 11 minute episodes. This show taught children about teamwork and family. Chip N' Dale Rescue Rangers: First premiered on March 4, 1989. The Rescue Rangers were two brave chipmunks that took on crimes "too small" for the police to handle. They're adventurous detectives that have no fear. This show taught kids that big things come in small packages. 90'sAdventures in Wonderland: First premiered in 1992. This show was based of of the Disney Channel animated movie "Alice In Wonderland". This show is about a girl name Alice who simply walks through a mirror into Wonderland. This show taught kids to let your imagination roam free.
Boy Meets World: First premiered in 1993. The show follows a boy named Cory Mathews, his friends, and family throughout his life. This show teaches kids many lessons, one of which is growing up isn't easy, but with your friends and family, it can be done. Bear in the Big Blue House: First premiered in 1997. A show about a curious bear who has many different friends, who look different but are the same at heart. This show taught kids that it's on the inside that counts. |
2000's
Lizzie McGuire First premiered in 2001. A show that follows Lizzie and her friends and family, and their complicated lives. This show also has an animated inner self that expresses how she feels. This show taught kids to be themselves, no matter what society thinks about it, because in the end it's how you feel that matters.
That's So Raven: First premiered in 2003. This was a supernatural show that followed a young girl named Raven. She is a psychic teenage girl who balances powers with friendship. This show taught kids that no matter how crazy your life is, there is always time for friends.
The Suite Life of Zack & Cody: First premiered in 2005. This show was about a troublesome pair of twins and their lives in a luxury hotel in Boston. This show taught kids to not take advantage of what you have.
Hannah Montana: First premiered in 2006. This was a show about a normal teenage girl who had a double life as a famous pop-star. This show has taught many children that you can accomplish anything if you put your mind to it.
Wizards of Waverly Place: First premiered in 2007. Wizards of Waverly Place chronicles the adventures of the Russo Family who happen to be wizards. In every episode they teach you a different lesson. However the most common is that with great power comes great responsibility and family is forever.
Sonny With A Chance: First premiered in 2009. This was a show about a teenage girl who moves to L.A. in hopes of becoming a star, which she does. This show is filled with comedy, friendship, and desire. This show taught kids that friendship is more important than fame.
This era of Disney Channel is the most popular, and is more commonly referred to as the "Old Disney Channel", which clearly was not.
